A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING A COOPERATIVE EFFORT OF
GOVERNMENT ENTITIES TO AMEND FLORIDA'S
SUNSHINE LAW TO PERMIT CONFIDENTIAL AND
PRIVATE MEETINGS BETWEEN ELECTED
OFFICIAL AND THEIR LEGAL ADVISORS;
DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO FORWARD THE
RESOLUTION TO ~PROP~RIATE GOVE~RNMENTAL
OFFICIALS; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Palm Beach County Municipal League and County
Commissioner, Carol Phillips, has heretofore made s written
proposal for a cooperative effort to urge amendment of
Florida's Sunshine Law to permit confidential and privilege
meetings between government entities and their lawyers; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach fully supports the proposed amendment advanced by
County Commissioner, Carol Phillips and the Palm Beach
County Municipal League; and~
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach believes that a proposed amendment would provide a
more efficient and cost effective manner of communication
between elected officials and their legal advisors with no
corresponding detriment to the public~
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of
Boynton Beach strongly urges the Palm Beach County
Legislative Delegation an~ all other member~ of the
Florida Legislature to adopt an amendment to ~lorida's
Sunshine Law, which would permit consultations between
elected officials and their attorneys of rec~'d in a
privileged and confidential setting free ~r om the
requirements of public disclosure.

immediately upon passage.
