A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
URGING G~OVERNOR CHILES AND THE STATE
LEGISLATURE TO APPOINT A TASK FORCE ON
PROSTITUTION.
WHEREAS, One of the most significant health risks facing the
residents of Florida is the increase in AIDS cases as a result of
prostitution; and
WHEREAS, most cities in the State of Florida are substantially
mpacted by prostltuulon and the inability to effectively deal with
it Under existing laws; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach,
Florida has deemed it to be in the best interest of the residents
and citizens of the City of Boynton Beach to strongly urge the
State Legislature and Governor Chiles to appoint a task force to
study and make recommendations to deal with the problem of
prostitution; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF~0YNTON BEACH, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The City Comra/ssion of the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida strongly urges the State Legislature and Governor
Chiles' to appoint a task force to study and make recommendations to
deal with the problem of prostitution.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton
Beach urges the State Legislature to redesignate the crime of
)rostitution as a felony.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a
copy of this Resolution upon passage to Governor Chiles and the
appropriate members of the State Legislature.
