82-QQQA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH
TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS, STATE 'UNIVERSITY
SYSTEM IN SUPPORT OF THE TEN YEAR MASTER
PLAN OF NEW DEGREE PROGRAMS FOR FLORIDA
ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY.
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach has no school of
higher education located within its boundaries or adjacent area;
and
Wi~REAS~ the City of Boynton Beach believes that higher
education for its citizens is in the public interest and is a
necessity for its young adults; and
WHEREAS, Florida Atlantic University is the nearest
public institution of higher learning available to the citizens
of Boynton Beach; and
1982.
WHEREAS, the continued development of Florida Atlantic
University as outlined in the Ten Year Master iPlan of New Degree
Programs is necessary and desirable to serve the educational
needs of the citizens of this area of Florida, and to provide
the needed and required advanced degree programs to support the
existing high technology, clean, light industries and to encoura
their expansion and the attraction of additional such companies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City of Boynton Beach hereby
endorses and supports the Florida Atlantic University Ten Year
Master' Plan 1982-1992, and requests the Board of Regents to
approve the Plan and take all the necessary steps to implement
the Plan.
